I will follow you to the ends of this earth, she thought to herself and smirked. Who would have ever thought that she would feel this way? She was literally following him around like a puppy right now and was loving every second of it. Every time he turned around on the trail they were hiking on, he smiled and she melted.
She finally just let go. Let go of constantly being the dominant one and let her man lead. She submitted to his leadership and let him “be the man.” Dammit, it felt good.
It wasn’t something she had done before – this “letting someone else lead” thing. She never trusted anyone enough to do this. You would think that this would have been a huge red flag, but she was blind to it because she didn’t believe in it. Didn’t feel like she should. She has always been the boss both at work and at home. It was her thang. Relationships never ended up well though because you can’t have two masculine forces in a relationship. God made man and woman, and in every relationship, there has to be one masculine and one feminine. You can’t have the same personas or it won’t ever work. It is how we were designed to be…she took a deep breath in because she realized and was now thankful that it took her almost 45 years to figure it out. Perfect timing.
She realized that she didn’t always have to be the strong one. The fixer. The problem solver. The bread winner. The commander. She could lean on him and trust him to do these things for her. He appreciated it and it empowered him to do more. To love her more.
She found that she was free. She felt more…well, feminine. She had feelings and emotions that she never really experienced…never felt. The weight that she had been carrying was finally off of her shoulders. She took another deep breath in and exhaled loudly just thinking about all of it. Then, another smile swept her face.
When she stopped resisting, showed him respect and followed his lead, their relationship changed.
Respect…that was the key. It naturally led to liberating him to be a better and stronger leader with each day that passed. He loved feeling “like a man.” The protector. The provider. The head of the household. The man.
She figured out that men need respect so she gave it to him. Willingly and unconditionally. It is more important than love to them, she surmised. As a woman, she found that concept really hard to understand at first. However, when she demonstrated her reverence for him, he began to show her more love. He dotes on her constantly and displays more love as each day passes. He truly loves her and she feels it. She both respects and loves him. Respect first though.
And…the more respect she showed him, the more she respected him…if that makes sense. He felt it and it inspired his, “I love you” meter to hit full throttle.
She smiled again to herself as she silently hoped that other women would figure this out. Every day in her work, she sees the dynamics of how husbands and wives treat each other. She sees the contempt and the aggravation. It is quite obvious why, now, as she has recognized the root cause of their problems. She pays attention to how they talk to each other and it is the same every single time.
Every once in a while though, she sees the perfect harmony. She has no problem asking the couples what their “secret” is. They always just look at each other and smile. They “got it.”
It is the way that we were designed to be. God knows what He is doing. Promise.

Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything.

Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless. In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself.  After all, no one ever hated their own body, but they feed and care for their body, just as Christ does the church— for we are members of his body.  “For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.” This is a profound mystery—but I am talking about Christ and the church. However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.
