Your House Says a LOT About You

What makes a house a home? The ago old question, right? Your home should be a haven for you that shelters you from the hectic world that we live in. It tells a story about you…who you are and what is important to you.

Your home is a very accurate gauge of your life choices. Where have you been? What’s going on now? What is important? It shows what you value and who you are right now.
That’s a lot of pressure…I know.
Now, I am not talking about how expensive the stuff is in your home. I am talking about the stuff that counts…what is on the inside. it doesn’t take a whole lot of money to make it “your” house.
Or maybe you never thought of it that way. In that case, it is time to open your eyes 🙂 Take a look around you and tell me…what is your house saying about you? Is it a home? Does it represent who you are?
It is time to realize that your home represents the most authentic version of yourself. It is just like the clothes that you wear…they do the talkin’. What is your house saying?
Does it need love?
Is it cluttered?
In need of repair?
Is it messy and dirty?
In chaos?
Unorganized?
Comfortable?
Peaceful?
Clean?
Organized?
Generally happy?
Generally depressed?
Do you have good taste?
Does it show that you care?
You have to think of your house being alive…it has its own identity, energy and spirit. It mirrors – very much – the state in which you are in now. It declares, loudly, who we are and what we care about.
If you are looking around right now and you don’t love what you see, then it is time to make some changes. When you decide to “get your house” back in order, tackle one room at a time. Change your mindset…your “why” on what you are doing. Instead of looking at it as a chore, look at it as if you are creating that haven for those that you love…for your family to enjoy…for your spirit to enjoy. You might say, “But we don’t have the money to redecorate and reflect who we are.” However, you don’t have to have money to get your shit together. That, my dear friends, just takes some time and effort. It doesn’t have to be fancy…it just has to be “you.”
How we take care of our home and how it is organized is a direct reflection of how we care for ourselves. Like it or not, it is true.
Every home needs some assemblance of order, cleanliness and comfort. It needs to have an aspect of “mothering” you…a place where you come for enjoyment and peace. Your soul needs this place, my friend. There should be places that invite you to relax and unwind. There should be places that make you smile when you look at them…places that are calming and beautiful…that beckon you to them with a smile upon your face. It doesn’t have to be perfect, it just has to have some charm….just like YOU.
