Being a Bright Spot in a Dark World

Fox-Guidry Mortgage > Be The Light > Being a Bright Spot in a Dark World
It doesn’t take much, ya know – just a simple act of love and kindness – to be a bright spot in someone’s day.
A sweet heartfelt compliment.
A hand on their shoulder while you ask if someone is ok.
Reacting kindly when someone is a turd to you.
Going out of your way to help someone in need.
Listening without judgment when someone needs to be heard.
Praying for someone in desperate need.
A smile to a passing stranger.
Understanding and patience in a situation.
Saying “sorry” first.
Reaching out to someone to tell them that you care for them.
Shakespeare, in all of his brilliance, came up with some great stuff. In Hamlet, he wrote, “There is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so.” I hope that you realize that it is not the actual “thing” that happens in our day that is “good” or “bad” (I am mainly talking about the small every day things that happen because our days are filled with them, but this also applies to the “big” things.) but our own internal assessment that makes something “good” or “bad” to us. In other words, we are in charge of our reactions to things and how we feel is ultimately up to us. So, make good choices. Who do you want to be?
Maybe the person that is in front of you doesn’t quite understand the little nugget of truth I just gave you there. The really cool thing is this: You can help show them. You can be a light in this world and you can be the light that brightens someone’s day.
Please understand that most people who are unhappy, anxious, sad or angry are so because they let the culmination of the “little things” and their judgment of them make them so.
So be the light! Go and make someone’s day glow. You might change their life.
