Confucius once said, “To be wronged is nothing unless you continue to remember it.”
Now, he also said, “Man who farts in church sits in his own pew.” Maybe he didn’t say the latter, but we must admit that they are both very wise words of wisdom. Both pieces of advice can be used in our everyday lives. Just sayin’.
My waking thoughts this morning were actually about the first statement above. Our thoughts are so powerful. The second verse is just funny and it is something my parents used to (and still do) say to me to make me laugh. Still great information though, either way.
What we tell ourselves is so important. Our thoughts…those inner workings in our heads…they direct the paths in which our lives take. One tiny thought, one certain way of looking at things, one feeling, judgment, reaction at a time, day after day…they all add up to get you to where you are today as a person.
They have shaped your physical health, a great deal of your mental health, your personality and your spirituality most likely without you realizing it. Day by day, thought by thought, here you are. What kind of person are ya?
Don’t like where you are? You just need to change your way of thinking. It is that simple. Make different choices. Train yourself to have better thoughts. The transformation will follow.
Throughout the entire Bible, God encourages us to “raise the bar” on our standards of everyday life by thinking and reacting differently. A new way. An amazing thing happens when we do such a thing…we rise up to meet it. Raise the bar and rise up to meet it.
