God puts it on our hearts to commune with Him on behalf of other people.
“I will pray for you” we say, but do we actually do it? I feel like most times, it has become more lip service than anything. We say it, but it isn’t real because there is no follow through. As soon as we hang up the phone or leave the person who we said it to, the ADD kicks in and we forget or get distracted. I know that I have been guilty of doing it.
So what do we do?
Pray right then and there – in front of them or directly to them. It takes courage and shows great tenderness. It takes guts and I know that it is scary. I guaranty though that nothing will make a person feel more loved and special than someone taking the time and being brave enough to openly pray for their well-being.
The next time you say it or type it to someone, stop what you are doing and actually pray for them. See what happens.
Pause in your conversation and ask them, “Can I pray for you right now?” And then do it. If they are in front of you, put your hand on them and close your eyes and go for it.
You will feel the fierceness and the effectiveness of the prayer immediately. Love will radiate. God’s light will shine through you and a sense of peace will fill up both of your hearts. The Holy Spirit will guide you every single time.
There is no such thing as a bad prayer when you are having a conversation with God. Speak with your heart and say what comes into your mind. Be bold. It will NOT be regretted.
It might mean everything to the person you are praying for. Everything.
Words carry so much power. They can heal a broken heart. They can change a life. They can give strength to those who are weary. They can show someone else the power that God has put inside of all of us.
You want to make a difference in life? Speak prayer into other’s lives. The person receiving the prayer will appreciate that someone cares enough about them to make themselves so vulnerable.
Don’t think you can do it? Pray to God to give you the tenacity you need. He will. Promise.
