Sweat is pouring down my face and my shirt is soaking wet. I am out of breath on my Peloton working harder than I thought that I ever would have been able to. I smile as I look at the words that I had written a little over a year ago on the mirror in my gym.
One step. One breath at a time. You can do this.
Those words push me to work harder. Because I can. There was once I time, not so long ago, that I was told that the old me would be no longer because my lungs were so damaged. I would have to get used to being out of breath all of the time and it was only to get worse.
They were right about one thing – the “old me” is gone. Not replaced by a complacent “less than” version of my former self…but a better and stronger version. A version that can not only kick ass on the Peloton, but also has renewed fortitude and profound gratitude.
As I sit here and write this, I have tears in my eyes because I am SO SO GRATEFUL for another chance that I have been given. To live. To love. To help others. To use the gifts that God gave me. Thank you, Lord for this beautiful gift that I have been given…my life. I promise not to waste it.
