Good morning! It is 5am and I am sitting on my chair in front of the fire and Christmas tree at home. It is silent here and I can just hear the usual house sounds…other than that, it’s just me and the doggies up (although they are asleep next to me once again) and snuggled together. I have just done my readings and have sat here in thought and prayer. I love my mornings.

I was thinking about Christmas this year for me and how different it was compared to other years. This year was the year of charity for me. Instead of running around buying gifts for everyone I know, just for the sake of buying a gift, I didn’t do that. This year, I “adopted” a bunch of angel tree kids and helped grant their gift wishes. Gave heavily to World Vision (my favorite charity) and bought some cows and goats and part of a well for people I don’t know in a country far away. Other than that, I bought only a few gifts. It felt good.

I think that I have finally reached a point in my life where I am “over it” with how frantic the Christmas season can be…we have become programmed to scramble to buy a gift for everyone we know. I feel like we have completely forgotten the reason for the season. I know, sounds cliche. It is true though.

Let this post serve as a reminder to pause for a few moments and think about the gift that was given to all of us and the reason that we celebrate Christmas. Jesus.

He was born so that He could give us the ultimate gift…our salvation. That gift has infinite value and gives you meaning. When He was born, you became a child of God and THAT gift has more value than anything that you can ever buy or receive. It is priceless. It should make you smile.

Isiah 9:6 says, “ For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

I find that Christmastime can be a lonely and sad time for some people. If that is you then think about this: You are never alone. Think about how lucky you are…that God is with you at all times – good and bad- and that you are His child. He will never leave you. In these thoughts, you can find joy, regardless of your current situation.

I am wishing you a Christmas season filled with love and gratitude in your heart. May you stop and think about why we celebrate Christmas. May you give someone a hug that needs one. Spend time with those that you love or maybe even those that you have a hard time loving. May laughter fill your home. Appreciate the small moments. Help someone in need. Take time to appreciate those around you. Pause.
